Team Games for Kids
The games which help in team building should be played frequently by children. Such games teach players/kids the importance of coordination, teamwork and help them increase their confidence level. The team games for kids mentioned below include both outdoor and indoor games. Crisscross, the ball toss and some of the interesting ones are described in the article.
Ball Toss
It is an interesting team game for kids which help in testing the skills and coordination between them. In this game, the players should form a circle. One of the players should hold the ball and pass it to the player standing exactly opposite to him. The player receiving this ball should throw it to the one who is standing to the left of the first player. This cycle should continue until all players have handled the ball at least once. To make the game interesting and challenging, number of balls being circulated should be increased one-by-one after every cycle. This game is really a nice team building activity which tests coordination among players.
Crisscross
The game is played between 4 teams which are positioned in 4 corners of a square. In the game, all the teams have to start at the same time and move towards the opposite corner. Interesting part of the game is that players have to use different modes or types of movement viz., hopping, sprinting, crab walk, wheel barrel, crawling, skipping, walking backwards, etc. The type of movement being used, depends on the call of team leader. The interesting part of crisscross game is that when all 4 teams start 'criss-crossing' each other at the center, it would create a bit of congestion. It would test the players' ability to move quickly through the 'traffic' and reach the destination quickly in time. The team which reaches its destination first is declared the winner.
Jumping Rope
It is a simple game which requires a big team with just a rope as the equipment. Two players are required to hold the rope at both ends. Rest of the players need to stand at the middle of the rope. When the rope is turned, all the players standing near the middle of the rope should jump at the same time. The team which is able to complete maximum number of jumps continuously is declared the winner.
Indoor Team Games for Kids
Just like outdoor games, which involve physical activity, indoor games too can help in team building. Here are a few indoor team building games for kids.
Grammar Race
The grammar race game is simple to understand, yet challenging to play. This game can also be played in classrooms. In this game, players of the given teams have to form a grammatically correct sentence by contributing one word each. The team which completes the sentence quickly is declared as the winner. Points are awarded to the teams on the basis of accuracy of grammar, spellings and quality of composition.
Tell Three Things
In this game players are assigned the task of enlisting three facts about themselves on a piece of paper. However, the binding is that out of 3 facts that are enlisted, 2 should be correct/true while one has to be a lie. Once the process of enlisting facts gets completed, every player has to read out his information aloud. The audience/rest of the players have to make a guess about the correctness of facts. This game is aimed at helping children to know each other in a better manner.
The various team games presented in this article are interesting ways to understand each other. In today's life where people have to work efficiently in teams, the activities mentioned above would help in training children for the future.
