The corporate world taught our realm the true meaning of the word "cut-throat competition". Now, that competition seems to be the only driving force for the yuppies, the corporate world want to start training them the incompletely "alien" field of Team Work. It is true, anyone who has dreamed of success in the corporate world has told "team work" to take a hike at some point in their career. It's natural and goes without saying. So, how is it that team work is "built" in these yuppies? Through training, we shall see how exactly.

Most corporates prefer to outsource their team building activities. There are several agencies that take up training for team building purposes, for these corporates on a project basis. These training programs include games and other activities that makes the participants comfortable working with others as a team and sharing the credit too. It is not as easy a task as one may have thought it to be. Else, the industry for corporate team building training would have not been knee deep in dough, right?

There are many activities, the intricacies differing from industry to industry, that can be carried out in order to get the professionals in a team mood as well as a fun mood. Again, not easy. But I could share a few ideas with you.

Firstly, these trainings are carried out one corporate at a time. It is always preferable to keep that way. This will foster a group mindset in the employees. The agency can also, then, divide them into groups and have problem solving activities with real problems faced by the company. This way two results can be achieved - team building and problem solving.

Another activity that can be conducted is planning. The professionals can be scrambled in a manner that a person from each department is present in a team. Then, each team can be asked to come up with a product idea. Complete, from inception to marketing to accounting. This will really help in allowing the participants to blatantly see the importance and vitality of each department for any activity.

Getting a little light-minded, team games can also be played. Again, scramble the participants to make sure that if there are, on an average 10 people in a team, a minimum of 5 members have to be changed. Many games can be played to foster a feeling of 'belonging to the team' in the participants. Like, one out the members could be blind-folded and asked to walk toward a specific goal. The rest of the team, has to direct that member without giving specific direction. Many such games can be found or developed. It is all in the hands of the HR team and the agency.

Another very effective activity is teaming the participants on the basis of their departments and making them do a task that is not ordinarily done by them. Like, the finance team could make a marketing plan and the HR team could come up with cost cutting solutions. It can be frustrating in the start, but once they start to think out of the box, the participants will love it. What's more, the results could be highly hilarious!

And an all time "hit" activity is a spoof play. The entire team could be asked to script out, produce and act out a play on an incident that they went through in the company. But, they have to make it comical in some way. This could be left for the finale of the training session as it is an activity that needs time from the participants and ease from the audience. More so, it is a great way to climax any workshop on a funny note.

Many activities can be carried out to get a "team together", but the bottom line is that the participants need to see the value of the others, not only to the organization but also to each one of them specifically. Once this purpose is served, the company may seldom have issues regarding "lack of team work".
